Dr. Jenjira Yahirun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Bowling Green State University. Previously, she was an Assistant Researcher in Family Demography at the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa and an NICHD Postdoctoral Fellow at the Population Research Center at the University of Texas – Austin. She received her PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
She studies the intersection of families, health, migration, and aging. Her work is part of a broader research agenda that addresses how differences within and between families contribute to social inequality.
Dr. Yahirun was born and raised in Maryland. She is the daughter of Thai immigrants and a first-generation college graduate.
