At the University of Hawai`i, Dr. Yahirun teaches in the Human Development and Family Studies Program and is Affiliate Graduate Faculty in the Department of Sociology. Dr. Yahirun's approach to teaching is informed by her experience as a first-generation college graduate. She is especially aware of the challenges that many students face in navigating unfamiliar learning environments. Dr. Yahirun applies a collaborative approach to teaching that focuses on facilitating discussions between students and fostering an interactive process where every student is included.
