Jenjira Yahirun is Assistant Researcher (tenure-track) at the Center on the Family, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa.  Between 2012 and 2014, she was an NICHD Postdoctoral Fellow at the Population Research Center at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Yahirun received her PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2012. 

Trained as a family sociologist and social demographer, Dr. Yahirun's research studies the intersection of families, migration, aging and health. Her work is part of a broader research agenda that addresses how differences within and between families contribute to social inequality.

Dr. Yahirun was born and raised in Maryland. She is the daughter of Thai immigrants and a first-generation college graduate.
